We made it to CO - The Trip -- the living situation -- the wild!!

So, it's been a bit of a crazy past week! We finished out working at our old stores, and headed down to Mt. Sterling so we could get in a convention! It was a 5 hour drive down... we were there for conv, then Sunday evening we(Phil's parents, and us) drove all the way back UP to Chicago ... arriving after mid-night. We had to be up by 5am 9/1 so we could get up and out of the house as a new tenant was arriving around 7am and TECHNICALLY our 2 week lease was up the 31st :) We then packed up the U-haul and were headed out of town around 10:30!! I'll spare you the nitty-gritty details of our drive.. haha! It pretty much consisted of drive - gas - drive- gas... hahaha! We could have made it in a day, but we stopped in Iowa a couple times to see some of Phil's family... it was a nice break in the trip! We ended up spending the night in North Platte, NE and made it to Denver around 2:30 9/2. It was great that the in-laws could take some days off to help us move! They pulled a trailer for us with their trailblazer...otherwise we would have been stuck renting a u-haul truck and trailer to put a car on!

We decided based on the success of our last "room renting" experience to do it again out here. So, we're currently renting the lower level of a house.. until we can decide if we want to sign a year long lease with an apartment complex, or if we want to buy a house ASAP. It's really hard to find decent apartments willing to do less than a year lease... and we're both sick of throwing money away! Thus far it's been working out good! Finn has a backyard to play in, and the lady of the house has been a wealth of information! Either way, within the next couple months we'll be moving on...

So, after putting most of our things in storage and dropping off the few things we needed at the house we headed out for some sightseeing with Phil's parents before they had to head back to IL. We went out to Georgetown -- an old silver mining town about 25 minutes away -- and wandered around for a bit. Then we headed up to Mt. Evans/Echo lake for some lunch and more sightseeing! It was beautiful!

We then headed back closer to home and went hiking in Green Mountain Park.. it's a 2300 acre park just down the street from where we're living! Trails abound!!

I'll post some pictures when I find the cord to connect the camera to the computer! haha :)

Wow - your trip sounds exciting! It looks absolutely beautiful there. Maybe when we are out in Denver next month we could all get together for dinner or something.
